New Acquisition: La Brea
September 4, 2008
I am pleased to announce Madison Marquette acquired a new property in Southern California last Thursday. What has been endearingly referred to as “the La Brea property” around the Western Regional offices over the past few months is a cluster of 7 buildings (total 87,000 SF) plus a parking lot that accounts for most of the block on South La Brea Avenue, between 1st & 2nd Streets in Los Angeles. We intend to create “District La Brea”, a contiguous block of hip restaurants, furniture and apparel.
This acquisition is the first in our Western Region in quite some time. It marks a return of our investment activities in a City where we had been quite active in the past. I’m proud that we gained the confidence of our Chief Executive and Chief Investment Officers to make this investment. La Brea will be added to our other properties in the Madison Marquette Retail Enhancement Fund.
A special thanks to our San Francisco and Los Angeles teams that worked hard to see this to the finish line.

“La Brea gets Madison back into the LA market in a niche, high profile way. Dsitrict La Brea will become LA’s newest shopping destination for forward, eclectic fashion, home accessories and dining.”
